Re: Teaser
Is that the V63 bass that both of you (Kevin & John) have in your avatar pics?
Re: Teaser
Mark, that bass in my avatar is my '04 4003 with the Toaster, RIHS, and C64 pickguard on it. Has the inlays on the fretboard and the maple wings on the headstock.
Re: Teaser
Always exciting to see another RM get in the register, Kevin?
If it's not yours it's another drool 1999 for sure.

Rita and I have our first gig together tonight!
I hope Yvonne doesn't get jealous!

Now that you've put it through its paces, I'll ask it again: How does it feel to finally get your dream bass?
Re: Teaser
It's pretty amazing, Jake. There's certainly something about these '60's "S" basses. Even though it's a refin, it feels comfortable like a old pair of Levi's (when they were still made in the USA).
Sweet! I have NOS Rick flats on it. Punch and clarity. Warm but not muddy. How'd she sound?

There is nothing like a good 60's bass, but, remember, they're not all good. Nothing sounds like one, or feels like one. They are, quite simply, the golden age of Rickenbacker basses. You can pick one these days for short money compared to a few years ago, and if you get lucky you'll understand the hype.
I've seen RI and LE basses fetch money close to what some 60's basses have sold for recently, and when it gets like that, there really should only be one winner...
