1958 325 Restored in 1987

Post by DblFantasy »

This guitar has parts from a 1958 and the body of a 1987 325v59 (the orginal guitar body was destroyed in a car crash). It was custom finished tobacco sunburst. Image

A very nice looking Rickenbacker. I especially like the finish. You have done an excellent job with the restoration.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Great look to that guitar!! Looks like something out of an old Ric tradeshow. Well done.

This was a mysterious golden oldie post. Not sure if he meant that the parts came from a destroyed '58 325 or from a '58 Rickenbacker....

You know John...I think this guy is here on Staten Island. He was giving away a 325 case which I later gave to Jeff Levenson (it was a 70's or 80's case IIRC).

If I have this correct, he showed me this guitar and told me a similarly vague story. Not being interested or saavy in 325's at the time I kinda just laughed it off.

I'll do some digging.

Edit: Found his email address. PM sent.

You'd be surprised what mundane details about 1958 325s matter, regardless of when they're presented....

Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed (and I mean that in an optimistic way).

Thats what I want to find out. The thread title made me think that the OP owned a '58 325 that had been destroyed so he transferred the salvageable parts to a V59.
Hey, you've got to exhaust every lead, right? 8)
