Jared ... CALCIUM DOES NOT CAUSE KIDNEY STONES!!!!!
you get kidney stones when your body's ph gets acidic ... get your body's ph to neutral or alkaline and you won't get kidney stones ...
I am more adamant on coral calcium than I am on 5 string basses ... I cured severe arthritis by taking 3 times the rda of calcium ... if I followed your logic then I would still be in major pain and probably would have developed permanant joint damage ...
modren medicine offers no cures for degenerative diseases ... they only offer toxic drugs with dangerous side effects ... so I went to natural remedies and got better ...

I think the difference in opinion is based on the verbage. After consulting nephrologist pals of mine, the correct interpretation should be "increased dietary calcium is associated with a higher risk of kidney stones in those individuals who are predisposed..."
Such that cigarette smoking "causes" cancer in those whom may be predisposed to that varient of carcinoma. Not all who smoke will develop CA, but a higher percentage will vs non-smokers.
Medicine is not logical, but empirical.
IMHO

people who get kidney stones are actually suffering from a calcium deficency ... most doctors don't really understand nutrition because the medical schools don't teach it ... they only teach them to administer toxic drugs and surgery ...
most people who are over 30 are losing clacium faster than they are taking it in and most people over 50 have a calcium deficiency ...
And the reason I say take a good coral calcium is so that they get a calcium that absorbs ...
modern medicine pretty dismisses ANY nutritional approach ... and the FDA tries to shut down ANY natural way to heal and cure ... why? because there is so much money in only treating symptoms with overpriced drugs ...
again saying that calcium causes kidney stones is an act of stupidity put forth by modern medicine ... I know it is wrong ...

Here is the way it looked back in early August when Jeff Rath spotted it on Ebay. Most of those who commented thought it was done for.
When it arrived here it became apparent that the fingerboard had to be removed.........
My brother holding the removed fingerboard.
The new fingerboard in place.
Then the body damage was filled in. I would definately do this differently today.
Then it got a fresh coat of tung oil.
A few days later.....
This weekend, our friend Jaymi is gigging with this bass. I love happy endings!

Everything seems fine as far as I can tell. I've never opened her up to take a look and they were there when I bought it. I still have the original knobs/pots in case I ever want to make it 100% original, but I like the tonal flexibility of the stacked knobs.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.
High quality concentric pots are not much taller than single pots. Check out the concentrics sold by Stewmac.
