On a more serious note, my friend Patty Warren has been working as a photographer, using government grant money to photograph families in SF who live in subsidized housing. These people are the face of poorer Americans, subsisting paycheck to paycheck, one step from homeless. Her family portraits are poignant and all tell a story about the pride and love that can exist in an atmosphere of poverty. They carry on a long tradition of photo journalism, besides being the only family portraits that most of these people will ever see.

Earlier this year Patty went to Calcutta, India, to film a documentary on a womens' clinic near Calcutta. She did this on mostly her own nickel and with donations to her non-profit.

I'm sharing the YouTube of this brief preview montage with my friends on the RRF. It's a long way from home...

Not the video, but this late model song has me completely hooked. Nice bit of pop craftsmanship; using an old style formula.

It's a Byrd, it's a playin'..........

I really like that song. But mostly I like the band. Reminds me a bit of my band....steel guitar and 12 string electric guitar.
