Barolini wiring

Hey guys, I'm new around here!

I recently bought a pair of second-hand barts for the 4003, which I bought new in 1994. I've tried looking all over the web, but can't quite seem to find how to wire the bridge pickup, considering it has more wires than the stock high gain. I realize they are there to give you the flexibility of wiring in series/parallel/coil tap, etc. So perhaps some wires won't even be utilized. I don't know. That's why I'm here! I just want them wired the way the stock pickups are. I'm also changing the pots to 500k, and switching out to .22 tone caps. So I guess my question is, which wires go where?!

Barts are humbucking pickups, Rick hi-gains are single coil, so there is no relationship between the two. Wire up the Barts any way you see fit that gives you the tone you are looking for, just search online for their wiring diagram.

I don't know why the the McAfee Site Advisor would warn that a site like Bartolini's would have security risks. Proceed with caution!

Like RIC humbuckers, the Barts should have two pairs of wires soldered together. One will be taped back in the harness and one will be exposed, and probably has a red wired in the pair. This pair will be treated like one wire and wired to the selector switch, and the ground to the back of the closest pot. One option would be to pull the other pair of wires out and wire them to a push-pull pot for use as a coil tap. Which wires are which by color, I don't know, so you'll need to go to Bartolini's site and find a schematic for this particular pickup's wiring.

Thanks so much for the info, and quick response! I've been trying to get on the bartolini site, but can't establish a connection.

There is a black, green, bare (ground, I'm assuming since it appears to be grounded to the pickup), and white/red soldered together. It also appears as though the green and black wires weren't being used in the previous application. There is no exposed wire coming from the insulation on those two. Perhaps a little trial and error is in store for me this evening.

I have the Bart wiring diagram but don't know how to upload it. For parallel wiring the Black & red are connected together as hot. The white, green & shield are connected together as ground. For series the black is hot, Red & white connected & taped , the Green & shield are connected as ground.

I just typed in bartolini.net, and I see it says, "Site down for maintenance," so it probably did get hacked.

BTW -- probably a typo. I think you meant to type .022 as a consideration for a tone circuit cap. The standard for bass is .047, and I prefer .033 to retain some mids.
