Halloween leftover

Post by walker »

Here's a gag I posted on the sister page at Facebook. A week late, but you get the idea - a Fender P dressed as a 4001S for Halloween:

Yeah, the inspiration for the mock-up came as a response to seeing all the 4001 bodies that have been hacked up to accommodate P pickups. But on a more constructive & scientific note, it would actually be interesting to hear what this would sound like.

I agree, even more so if it were a Jazz Bass body with the Precision neck. No pickguard, please. Oh yeah, rear routed controls, too!!!

My custom fanned fret P has an HB-1 in the D-G segment of the P-pickup position, just a hair north of where a RIC treble position pickup is. It doesn't sound like a 4003 or 4004. It sounds like a P-bass with a little bit more growl.

Also remember that Stu Cook did add a toaster to his P-bass with CCR.

Wow... I've never knew about that Stu Cook mod. Is it known what recordings he might have used it on?
