Just recorded a few things with the 4001c64 and i must say: damn.. it sounds VERY good. Does the Squire/ Entwistle/ Lee "clank" i've been after for a long time very well, but also the mellow stuff like those mccartney basslines sound really good on this bass.

I think this one is never going to leave the family anymore! :)

BTW: Tomorrow i've got a day of, so I'm gonna make some better photo's of the RIC and the whole family and set the bass up a bit better. What strings do you guys recommend for RICs? I don't want to put Rotosounds on it, as i've read somewhere that they're quite harsh for the frets..

I use Rickenbacker strings. Apparantly these are made by d'Addorio to Rickenbacker specs. d'Addario nickelwound will do also. Let these frets not be a reason for not using Rotosounds. I do not think Rickenbacker frets will wear faster than those of other brands.

I sometimes use Rotosounds on my 4003 and they sound wicked. Never had any problems with my frets.

Been a long time since I checked the RRF and in the meantime I recorded a few things with the C64. You can take a listen right here (post-rockish), here and here.. Enjoy! :)

Ok, i'm having a probem right now with the 4001c64.

I want to remove the horseshoe cover, but I can't find a nut that would fit the screw, so the red wire can't get any ground. Any ideas on how to do this without breaking stuff?
