Quite the opposite: just like the bridge has a ground wire to it and it's either soldered or simply pressure fit to the body to make contact, run a tinned wire under the edge of the pickguard where a pickguard mounting screw will keep it secure and ground it out to the jack ground lug so a static charge doesn't build up.
