Hello
I have found a very nice 4003 S8 with a defect. There is a crack between the neck through and body and the neck looks warped with very high action.
Any of you experienced anything similar?
Do you think that it is reparaible? What wuold be the right price for it?

There is some info here that might be of interest:

Check out Dane's photo of the "swimming pool" plug. Apparently the large neck pickup route may contribute to the separation of the neck and body wings, and also adversely impact the geometry - which could contribute to the high action. The wood insert might be required to correct that.
That bass I had played had extremely high action without any evidence of the body/wing separation - and so there could be other issues to consider. There was a thread over at LBO where two owners of s8s described having to replace their truss rods to get the action right. There are also a least a couple of s8 owners there that never had any structural problems with their basses whatsoever.
A 4003s8 in MG with the wing separation sold on TB for USD$1500 shipped about two years ago, and that's about the lowest I've noticed one go for in recent years (but I'm not aggressively watching - just here and there...)

Thanks for the feedback. The price that I am requested is definitely too high to justify the risk of having an unplayable bass. I will continue enjoying my 4003

I have a Left-Handed version of this bass-----A '93 FG 4003s8.
Mine had the problem where the body wings were seperated from the neck, and the action was high enough you could drive a truck through it.
Dale Furtune told me that this was caused by the neck pup cavity size being wide enough to weaken the connection of the wings to the neck.
Not only did the repair involve the addition of a block of wood placed within the cavity, but the truss rods were replaced, AND an additional rod had to be placed within the neck!!!!!
Now it is ok.
I am not saying that YOUR bass will require this much work.....I'm just relating MY experience with the Rickebacker 4003s8.
Find out AS MUCH AS YOU CAN about the work it requires BEFORE you buy it!!!
