Definitely all the same guitar then - he may have only had one 1997 model, and it obviously ended up in complete pieces.

...and this is how you create confusion...contemporary shot from UK Beat Instrumental magazine telling its readers what a 1997 looks like....er, that would be a 1997/12? :?

No surprise there!

Pete was known to occasionally use a 1993/12 without octave strings (sort of a 1997!) when he was out of six-string Ricks.

..yup, looks like UK journalistic standards back in the '60's were every bit as good as today! Great to see they took the time to spell his name correctly too...

Yeah, that's very true. In their defense though, I doubt they thought the band (or their fanbase) would still be around 40 years later. :)

I also don't think Pete ever played a '66 in this color, but if he did, it might have been this one:

Separated at birth, or a fine pair? Take your pick.... :D

Here's a 3 pick-up version (would have suited Pete) from the same Feb '66 batch...

Alan recently bought a very lurid green Eric Clapton signature Strat from a friend. It was for Pete and will soon be red...like the rest of them.
