About 41 seconds in, he talks about a similar instrument. The only Rolling Stone who has played noted playing a real Rickenbacker was Brian Jones.

Well, not that weird as there isn't a Rickie in that video - just look at that maple headstock - it's some sort of electric sitar where the black body & white scratch plates make it look slightly like a Rickie.

I remember he played that instrument at the SARS concert in Toronto back in '03...and until I read this thread I'd always thought it was a Rickenbacker bantar or banjoline. I guess it helps to a) be closer than half a mile from the stage, and b) not drink so heavily in the sun.
