Stickers - Leave or Remove?
Well I've had my new 4003 MG 3 weeks now and I've still not removed the US Flag sticker or the Vintage Push/Pull Switch sticker. I don't have any yearnings to remove them at the moment, I think they look cool! In a way it keeps the bass looking brand new for that much longer, eventually though I can see the pull switch sticker getting a bit worn and dirty as it is only paper so it probably won't be on there too long, but am not decided on the US Flag sticker yet, I might even decide to keep it on there.
It just got me thinking as to how long you other guys have kept your stickers on there - or has anybody kept theirs on long term?

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Stickers - Leave or Remove?
I haven't seen any postings on here before about them, mind you I've only been on the Forum since earlier this year. I think I remember seeing something about the change in the shape/style of them but that's about it. Just done a search and nothing comes up other than my posting?Grey wrote:Here we go again.
Why - is there a problem???

I heard it won't stay in tune if you take the sticker off. Something to do with the careful balance of the instrument.cjj wrote:+100000000000000000000000Grey wrote:Here we go again.

No, there's no problem. It's just a subject that comes up about once a year, people wondering if taking the stickers off will hurt the resale value, etc. Both here and on the corporate site.Baker69 wrote:I haven't seen any postings on here before about them, mind you I've only been on the Forum since earlier this year. The bottom line is, if you intend to keep the instrument in pristine, un-played condition, for the purpose of possible resale in the future for a profit, then by all means keep it completely original, un-touched, etc. (now, where's the fun in that??). But, if, like most folks, you bought the instrument to enjoy and play, then the resale value is of secondary concern ('cause, why would you sell something you actually use and like?). So, the stickers are completely meaningless unless you just happen to like them being there...

What I was thinking of was whether there was some sort of a "trend" in leaving the stickers on? I've seen numerous You Tube videos of Rics where the owners still have them on.cjj wrote:No, there's no problem. No, mine is a gigging bass so I wouldn't be leaving them on for the purpose of keeping it mint. Already done 2 gigs with it and it will be out again in action twice this weekend!
Re: Stickers - Leave or Remove?
I remove the sticker and put it on the back of my truss rod cover. That way you have it but it just isnt on the front of your bass/guitar.

Stickers - Leave or Remove?
I left the Made in America flag sticker on one guitar, but after a year or so of playing, the sticker was looking pretty scrappy from getting hit by the pick.
So I removed it.

Re: Stickers - Leave or Remove?
If anyone has any of the rectangular Made In USA stickers that they don't want, I'd like one for my Jetglo 4004 Cii.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: Stickers - Leave or Remove?
Could you tell where the sticker had been? If it's left on for too long I would imagine the pickguard might be 'whiter' where the sticker had been as it would have been protecting that small area from U.V. rays etc.8mileshigher wrote:I left the Made in America flag sticker on one guitar, but after a year or so of playing, the sticker was looking pretty scrappy from getting hit by the pick.So I removed it.
Re: Stickers - Leave or Remove?
I've been known to move the sticker to the underside of the upper guard for safe keeping.
All I wanna do is rock!

Leaving a "factory" sticker on your guitar is akin to leaving your toy collectibles in the packaging to "preserve the value."
