RAS Alert ---- Pre-Confluence score

Post by 8mileshigher »

I couldn't wait for tomorrows Confluence to get RASsed up -- so I initiated a pre-emptive strike and scored a beautiful FireGlo 4003 this afternoon. :D 8)

Its a 2010 and in pristine condition. The guy had modded it with a BadAss Bridge, but fear not, this beauty already has its appointment set up with Joey's Bass Notes shop (after tomorrow's Jam) to get the proper set-up and to De-Modify it back to 100% stock original Rickenbacker.

It is really in top-notch condition .... not like the majority of Basses on the local Craig's List that look like they survived trench warfare from all the belt rash, nicks, dents and over-gigging abuse.

Why must you do this to me??? Isn't it enough I'm not going to be there tomorrow?? :(

In seriousness, nice score, Rich. What strings are you opting to put on it?

Jake, re strings ... The seller has LaBelle Flat wounds on it .... I may keep those for awhile. Depends what the verdict is after the Bass gets its set-up and diagnosis at Joey's Bass Notes. :)

Looks like a Hipshot, to me. :?

Easy to de-mod, just Bolt-N-Go®. 8)

Whether its HipShot or BadAss ----- the Bridge-Tailpiece will be up for sale in the near future, as I prefer my Ric "original".

Congrats and enjoy it, Rich! I knew it would just be a matter of time before the low end bug would get ya! 8)
I'll give her a workout for you tomorrow, if you bring it along. After the jam, it will get the JBN treatment, set it up and reinstall the original tailpiece. :)

Next time, Rich gets a 4004! 8)
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Congrats Rich I understand the draw totally. I am a guitar player of course, but I now have 5 basses and two of them are Ricks. The low end is fun. :D

Very nice,Rich!
Did you ask the seller if there was a problem with the original bridge ? I originally only replaced mine because of a problem getting my intonation set up correctly, but then found i really liked the heepschotte bridge.....

I've read and enjoyed this thread. I certainly know what RAS is but in this thread's context - what is the pre-Confluence? Not readily obvious to me. Is that you are a guitar player "joining" those of us who play in the deep end? Or is the confluence something else?

Hi Andy. "Confluence" is the word we use for small Rickenbacker enthusiast get-togethers. The one he's referring to is the "Janglebell Rock" Southern California Rickenbacker Fest held yesterday (12/8/12). There's a section in the Rick Resource Forum for "Conferences and Confluences" that holds discussions about these upcoming (and past) events.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
The new Bass got auditioned by a few of our Bassists friends who attended the JangleBell Rock event yesterday.... no doubt it will surface in a few of the picture posted. :)
