The wait is over..Yeah yeah yeah
I have waited forty years for tonight. Sir Paul is in Edmonton for the first of two shows. Last time he was within a thousand miles was in 1964. Vancouver.. the show lasted less than 30 minutes and no one heard a thing. Tonight will be three hours with a killer band and a state of the art sound system. This city is buzzing.

Actually there is a very good recording of the Beatles 1964 Vancouver show... I had an LP of it for years!

Enjoy the show,Paul's current band is really great! I never attended a Beatles concert, but did get to see Paul do a stadium show in Memphis with a fantastic band and crystal clear sound system. (From the "paul is Live" tour.)

Have a great time. Paul's shows are always a magical experience. There is inevitably a moment when you realize that you are hearing the soundtrack of your life being played live by the guy wrote it! Worth every cent they charge nowadays. I've seen him several times, first with Wings in '76 and most recently Fenway Park. Have fun, man. Wish I was there tonight!

But I forgot to add that sadly, on his recent tours there is not a Rickenbacker in sight, regardless of how many strings.
If only for one tune like Jet or Junior's Farm he'd bring out his old 4001.....now that'd be awesome.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, Brian!
I'm fortunate to say that I've seen him countless times, but I can tell you I get a chill each time I do.
It's amazing how one individual can have such a pull on many generations..
Oh and you guys to the north are very fortunate to get Mull in the set list, it's never been played here in the States!
I went to Glasgow in 2010 and caught him there - turned it into a vacation, but basically went to see him play that song!
cheers!
Can't wait for 12.12.12 in MSG

Yeah, thats where all the moist eyes came from.. Pipes and drums without Macca is still an emotional thing to hear and watchbottom4 wrote: Oh and you guys to the north are very fortunate to get Mull in the set list, it's never been played here in the States!

I'm happy for you, Brian. Everyone should experience this at least once in their lives. My one chance (so far) was in 1990, in Berkeley CA. One of my best memories of all time.
I camped out all night on the street to get tickets.
It was worth it.
All I wanna do is rock!

I'd love to see Macca. Not so keen on his backing band though. The guys doing harmonies ruin it every time.

Are you serious? I am going to presume you are and ask you a question. If Paul was looking for guys to play with, do you really believe he could not have his choice and do you believe that he would put up with anyone who would "ruin" his music? The best thing about being Paul McCartney and searching for musicians is, he is pretty much guaranteed to get the cream of the crop. Those boys did a lot of singing and it was hard to say who was the best. Abe (the drummer) was simply oustanding on vocals.
Re: The wait is over..Yeah yeah yeah
I was lucky enough to see Sir Paul in Houston on November 14. What an incredible show! And what a true showman. He got in a few nice digs at contemporary acts, too. He took off his jacket after a few songs and said, "That's my only costume change," with a bit of a wink. He looked like he was having a blast, and the whole audience did, too. Yeah, I wish he'd played his 4001S for a few songs. The Höfner sounded okay, but I think his Rick sounds punchier. I know he's complained of the weight of the Rick before, but honestly I think the two different Les Pauls he played for a bunch of numbers probably weighed as much as his Rick.
Oh well, it's not to be missed if you can. I saw him in Irving, Texas (near Dallas) for the "Flowers in the Dirt" tour. I think this was a better show, even thoug I preferred the Robbie MacIntosh version of his band.

"Are you serious?"
Yes. I'd definitely agree that the drummer is a better backing vocalist than the other two, though. Ultimately it's not a lineup that I care much for. I'd go to see them, for Macca of course, but I've seen far too many videos of them stinking the stage up. The one thing I'd probably say in their defence is that most of the videos I've seen are of performances that have been broadcast to television, and I've yet to hear a live TV mix that did a band any real favours in terms of the vocal mix. Backing vocals sound good in the background - that's where they belong - but frequently these guys are upfront in the mix and it sounds woeful. I think the Olympics was as bad as it got - Macca got a lot of unfair criticism for his vocals at the Olympics performance when really it was down to the sods doing harmonies.
"do you really believe he could not have his choice and do you believe that he would put up with anyone who would "ruin" his music?
He's perfectly capable of doing that when left to his own devices! (See the Broadstreet film).
Having said that, I'd more than happily line up to see Macca, regardless of who's backing him. I could see Ringo this March but money is unfortunately a bit scant.
