Cheap stereo jack plate

Post by vulcan_creedler »

Thinking of getting my jack plate re-chromed on my 4001 (it's really rather poor). The UK firm I used to re-chrome the bridge pickup ring did a brilliant job, so jack plate next!

Anyhow, in the meantime, I'll need to fit a temporary jackplate, and I was wondering if one these might work? The overall dimensions seem about right, especially for the 4 screw holes, but the centre-centre of the 2 jack holes are a bit closer than the real thing, and I was kind of hoping that there would be enough tolerance in the two cavities!!

Anybody ever tried one of these?

If the center-to-center dimensions are not the same, then the output jacks won't fit in the cavities drilled for them, which are fairly tight to begin with. I'd soak the jack plate in rust remover or a similar solution for a few days and leave it at that. Most platers will end up obliterating the serial number when it's all over. Call your local RIC distributor and see if you can get a jackplate exchange done with RIC.

Top idea Dane - I'll talk to Shelly at Rosetti, here in the UK! (she's a real gem, BTW!)
