I wonder if the NJ butcher bought it?

This seems to be the typical pattern of several relatively newbie bidders upping their max proxy bids one increment at a time in order to top the competition's high bid, then the competition taking over and responding in kind. 60 bids, and it went into the Twilight Zone a couple of days before close. The seller is VERY lucky. In '08, friend George picked up a mint, unplayed JG 4003 only a couple of years old, on CL, for the same price. I've bought a few very nice 4001s and 4003s for much less, though none were mint and all needed some work.

I removed a fretboard from one of my 3000 basses several years ago by applying it to the fretboard and heating it up with an iron to soften up the glue. Got the board off in one piece and sold it to a guy who actually needed one to restore his 3000 with. I'm assuming this would work on the delaminating sections of the body on this bass.

Happy Holidays to you Paul! I've been back to visit family in Cali over the last few years, but it's unlikely I'll ever move back. Global warming has resulted in less severe winters these last few years, so it's not too bad, and I love the change of seasons.

Oh no Batman, it has been re-listed! Already over $500. I guess the previous bidders didn't wise up in their off time!

From the 24 hour payment requirement, I am deducing that the original "winner" stalled and then backed down when he gave things some thought. I'd also guess that Paypal and/or Ebay backed him on his backing out, as the verbal description was misleading, and the nastiest photos were on the bottom of the detail pull-down, where looky-loos had to actively move the pull-down tab in order to see them.

There are lots of legitimate eEbay sellers who want immediate payment or payment within 24 hours. Many of us have been burned in the past.
