Color of the Year

RIC has done at least four burst-type finishes over the years, none of them had the word "burst" in the official color designation (Fireglo, Walnut, Montezuma Brown, Autumnglo). So my guess is that the BR in BBR doesn't stand for 'burst'.
There is a particularly nice Greco "4001" Rickenfaker done in blueburst, owned by Forum member Mark Deayton, here's a link to the pic he posted:

Squid: I agree with you that MB has been an outstanding color and I especially like it as it harkens back to the early days. The burst shading really does accentuate the grain of the maple.
Ilan: You raise a good point. Does this new abbreviation break from the traditional naming of finished by RIC. Is it something entirely different from the burst?

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

If I had control, I would be too tempted to randomly make abbreviations that mean nothing.
Just to see what kind of names people could come up with.
Or lead everyone to think one thing then come out with something completely crazy!
"Barefaced Brunet" (transparent Black)
since we already had the brunette (brown)
