Chris Squire's horseshoe surround

Chris's 21 fretter had a H/S and old style surround on it when it came up for sale at Music Ground.(if the pics were anything to go by)

The old Astral Traveller video clearly shows the 21 fretter with a modern treble pickup and surround.
Maybe that 21 fret bass ended up with the original surround from the yellow RM after he had swapped bits over and changed the finish on the RM.

I am assuming he collected various parts here and there (didnt he mention having a toolbox with lots of spares in?) so when the bass was re-finished etc. he may have swapped parts on his RM for ones with less wear or something along those lines.

Either way I doubt that all the parts on the RM are the original ones it having been worked to death and re-finished over the years.
The bridge/tail chrome looks really good considering all the wear and tear from endless tours.

As ever its a CS enigma.

Too bad they weren't adjustable from underneath so it the angle could be changed without having to remove the pad, itself. Or access from above, through the teeth area.

What was really too bad was the pad went all the way across. If it had been just 2 pieces and only between the two screw sets, it would have been fully adjustable.
