1966 Guild Starfire I

I've just restored ...and I use that term looseiy.. and old Guild Starfire I . Have any of you guys ever played one of these? The neck is slim and fantastic to play . I love the beefy pickup and sound of the hollowbody but I never realized how great the neck feels. I think the neck compares with some early Rics .

I love the old semi hollow body basses. I had an EB-2 which I loved and will soon get another. Jack Casidy played a Starfire. I want a 4005 actually.

Yea.. me too Bob. I also saw Lesh in Springfield Mass playing a heavily modifield Starfire years ago. The neck on this is slimmer than I remember EB- 2's feeling.I like EB-2 too. I once had a Jack Casidy Epiphone {Gold) pretty nice sound for and Epiphone knock off'

Yeah a Starfire is on my want list. Those things had a great sound, I've never played one.

Since I started playing upright about 6 months ago all electrics have slim necks.

The new Starfire III is a pretty good replica. I really like how it played. Just wish I had the bucks... Mama says two guitars in the same 6 months is not doable...

I adore my Starfire II. It's probably the only guitar in my aresenal that I simply could not get rid of, come hell or high water. It was made in 1996, the year before Fender took over, I believe. It's a gorgeous thing to play. Any amount of sounds are available from the two humbuckers, which are surprisingly bright and lively, and it has a very slim, comfortable neck. There are some real deals available on these guitars. They seem to be ignored by most collectors, meaning that their prices have remained somewhat stable. You can get a very good Starfire II for under $1000 U.S. quite easily. I've seen them go for as low as $600 on EBay. They're a steal.

Here's my EB-2 Custom. It's got a factory second humbucker and stereo outs.

I think I've seen that before, but that is one nice (and rare) bass, where did you get that? I've never heard of one before.

Pawn shop in Austin,Texas in 1991. $200. no case. Found a company in NY that makes cases for every guitar/bass imaginable. They had one in the warehouse, cost me $120.

I had one just like that with the case except it was a standard single pickup model.
