The Walkmen

Post by wwittman »

Anyone see them on Letterman?
I really liked them. And especially the guitar sound.. which looked like a Jetglo Capri with a gold pickguard and trapeze tailpiece.
Anyone know if it really is, or some sort of reissue?

You guys are quick. That was definitely a Capri he was playing last night and they didn't make reissues of those, that was vintage man.
I just bought their first record a couple of weeks ago and I like it alot. On the record at least, he played a Gretsch with lots of 'deep space echo' so when Letterman announced them last night I thought, cool, let's get a look at that Gretsch. Well I was blown away by the Capri, wasn't expecting that.
I'll have to check out their website.

I was certainly surprised to see a Capri. If the finish is original, wouldn't that make it extremely rare?

Maybe I'll hunt down some pictures, but if it was original, it was JG WBBS and gold guards. Pretty cool looking to me.

Definitely a cool piece, they were on Jimmy Kimmel last night (Wednesday, December, 1)! The capri was really striking in the black/gold combo with trapeze. Wish I had one!

I haven't been able to find a picture of one like that, and it finally occured to me (duh) that there weren't any black Capris. It must have been painted later by someone else.

Apparently this guitar was just sold last spring by Guitar Hangar for $4100! Here is a link to the story and pictures. Thanks to Karl Teten for remembering it and provided us this link. Cool Guitar.....

Here is a pic of this unique beauty! The guitarist gets a great tone from his set up. Thanks again to Karl for his great investigative work and damn fine memory! Enjoy...
