Re: NAMM 2013
"In Rickenbacker tradition here at the NAMM show, we have absolutely nothing new." - John Hall
Except for last year's RUBY as a stock color, the series of COY's in the 2000's, and the 1996 reissue in 2006, JH is spot on - the vast majority of new models that the company has introduced have NOT been at NAMM. Check out the News section on the RIC site for further proof.
Don't be surprised if new models are introduced this year, and remember that RIC marches to a different drum than other guitar manufacturers.
It's why we love them.
RIGHT?

Re: NAMM 2013
In light of no new models, today I purchased a 330S Tobaccoglo. I will switch the pickguards out for white.melvinsrule wrote:still holding out hope for some f-hole instruments
Re: NAMM 2013
Many thanks Jake. I'm glad you like it. I suppose it could be regarded as a Tom Petty reissue (!) although I prefer the trapeze to the R which Tom went for on his one-off. For those people reading this who are less interested in the Rose Morris export models, both tailpieces are "correct" for an original model 1993 with the early 1964 made guitars having the trapeze and the late 1964/1965 guitars having the R. The other thing is that my guitar has the "correct" (for a 1993 reissue) mono jack, whereas it looks like Tom specified either dual mono or standard deluxe series Ric-o-Sound outputs for his guitar (see pics below).JakeK wrote:

Eddie, that's fantastic! Looks like Tom Petty isn't the lucky duck anymore.
You must be reading my mind! I plan to do that and I'll start a separate thread when I have some group shots ready.JakeK wrote:
I'd be interested in seeing some more shots of it, plus a picture of it and your Sam Ash 6-string together.

My only objective here was to rework the guitar to a form which I feel is a fitting homage to the original Rose Morris series. As you will appreciate, the original '60's Rose Morris exports were only ever made in Fireglo. I did try to live with the guitar in its original factory state but it just didn't feel right to me. So, as the neck/headstock they used was an unrouted 360/12C63 one, it just felt right to go the full monty and do a 1993 12 string format. I'm glad you like it!

Well done Dan! I suspect the white guards (and I assume matching white truss rod cover?) will suit that burst better...can't wait to see the results.
Re: NAMM 2013
Turned out minty fresh mate nice to see it finished enjoy it.
Re: NAMM 2013
A beautiful transition. The fireglo is stunning and on the 1993 just looks right!
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: NAMM 2013
Wondering what value pots are in the 350MC 500? and then what value caps, and any resistors?
Re: NAMM 2013
Can't wait to see them together. Can I send you my 1986 1997 for the group shot, too? Now we need someone who'd be willing to send a PT signature model...k43rover wrote:You must be reading my mind! I plan to do that and I'll start a separate thread when I have some group shots ready.
The most likely ones who'd know any of that for the original '89 model would be Bugs Weidel, Alan Rogan, Chinner Winstead and/or Jimbo Neal, the Heartbreakers' guitar techs. Mike gets a huge sound from it.condo wrote:Wondering what value pots are in the 350MC 500? and then what value caps, and any resistors?
As for the 2012/13 model, today's the last day of NAMM, and I doubt very seriously that anyone could unscrew the pickguard and observe fast enough without getting the aforementioned RIC guard dogs sicced on him.
Re: NAMM 2013
I'd bet that the 350MC has the humbucker wired so that it can be selected by itself without any tone control in the circuit.
Re: NAMM 2013
I'm not so sure there's a humbucker in the bridge. At least not the type everyone is thinking of.
Jake, I think it's a square heel. I'll look through my photos. I was paying more attention to neck shape when I held it... I loved the profile and width of the fretboard.
