I think that you're probably right.

I'll keep buying Rickenbacker instruments, Jackson Browne's and Tom Petty's music (Scott now plays for Petty), and chalk it all up to appreciation.

I like the idea of a 600 series guitar with a ramp.

It's not quite a 600-series body in that it's as thick as, and assembled like, a 300-style body. It's not a solid slab.

The switch settings are: (1) Neck (standard Hi-Gain), (2) All three pickups, acting as two Humbuckers (the bridge HB-1 and the combination of the two Hi-Gains), (3) Bridge & Neck (Humbucker and Hi-Gain).

This wasn't quite right.

Position 1 is Neck and Middle, acting as a single humbucker. Using the Neck pot, the neck pickup can be rolled-off in level all the way to off, leaving just the Middle, acting as a Hi-Gain.

Adding another correction:

The upper pot is a master volume, controlling the guitar's output level.

The lower pot just controls the Neck pickup, and it's reverse-wired: full up has the pickup fully muted.

I *love* this guitar.

Just to be clear, this is your interpretation of the wiring, which may or may not replicate one of the proposed circuits. Each of the prototypes had different pickups and circuits.

I just brought two more of them out from storage and placed them in the museum, each of which is quite different from the other.

Thanks for the comment, John. I have it on good word that we were able to duplicate one of the configurations faithfully, but surely you know more about them than anyone else.

So now there are five Jackson Brown Limited Edition prototypes! I'd love to see photos of the two we've never seen before. Would you please consider posting a photo or two?

Would you describe the evolution of the various circuits and pickup configurations?
