The History Of The Eagles documentary featured several clips of Joe Walsh doing slide work on a Ric Jetglo 230GF--but none of Glenn Frey playing one.

Schmidt is featured in a few clips playing a 4001 mapleglo & a 3001. A very early clip showed Frey playing a fireglo 360, but I don't recall any showing him playing his signature model.

I caught the documentary last weekend. While I'm not as crazy about the Eagles as some people (huge fan of Don Henley and Joe Walsh, though), I enjoyed the film very much.

Are there are pictures of Glenn Frey playing/holding his signature model, promo or otherwise? I've seen plenty of photos and videos of Joe Walsh using his, but not of Glenn. Joe disproves the theory that Rics are not slide guitars!

I caught Part 1 last night - great documentary and it really helped showcase the talent they had, which wasn't apparent to a non-fan like myself.

I never knew Glenn Frey was such a bitter curmudgeon. The guy just has absolutely nothing good to say about his talented bandmates.

Yeah, really great band documentary. One of the better ones around.

Didn't we all know years ago that these guys were and always will be a bunch of ornery malcontents? That's one of the reasons why I never liked their music. Just utterly joyless. Overly crafted music. The joy and fun of being a human being is completely absent from their music. Corporate rock of the highest order.

Joe Walsh has some life to him, but Don and Glen just relegated him to hired hand status. Joe should have been the entire band.

Biggest kick I got from the documentary was all the Don Felder bashing. Oh, was he dismissed as a loser by Glen and Don. But then when you watch the closing credits and look at the song writing credits, there it is, "Hotel California" - the very reason why The Eagles are what they are - written by Don Felder. Man, at least say we sure wouldn't be anywhere near where we are if Felder hadn't come up those chords and played on that duel guitar coda. Disrespecting Don Felder would be like Ringo bad mouthing John Lennon. Kind of nuts.

felder played casino niagara here in buffalo, and the early commercials said hotel california written by don felder, but they had to change it to co-witten by don felder. take that for what it's worth. i personally do not know.

I just read an interview with Don in Vintage Guitar (today, as a matter of fact!) wherein he says he wrote the lead guitar parts, and then came up with other parts as he though Joe Walsh would play them. Interesting read as is most stuff in VG.

That's not surprising. Frey and Henley are overly litigious jerks. They'd sue you even if you took a picture of a real eagle flying over your house. I remember Joe Walsh on the Howard Stern Show years before any Eagles reunion. Howard begged Joe to play and sing "Desperado" and you can tell Joe was actually afraid to do it. He knew Glen and Don would come down hard on him. He explained it wasn't his song and Glen and Don don't take kindly to someone performing it -- especially an ex-bandmate. Cool thing about Joe was he eventually sang it anyway.
