Black Diamond finish?
This is interesting...
In this catalog from '59, Ric is calling the black finish on the 450 a "Black Diamond" finish!
That's a new one on me!

Yep interesting, even the Jazzbo has the Ric TRC when that guitar on the Ric Museum not appears...
Re: Black Diamond finish?
That's a new one on me, too. I actually think I like it better than "Jetglo", which I never understood. Glowing black like a jet? I've never seen a black jet before...? Exhaust trails from jets? Usually white, not black.

Hence the idiom "jet-black" or "black as jet"...weemac wrote:"Jet" Is a gemstone that is black....walker wrote:That's a new one on me, too. It probably went by too fast for you to notice...walker wrote: I've never seen a black jet before...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Black Diamond finish?
Also...Glo is like Gloss not Glow.walker wrote:That's a new one on me, too. I actually think I like it better than "Jetglo", which I never understood. Glowing black like a jet? I've never seen a black jet before...? Exhaust trails from jets? Usually white, not black.

Re: Black Diamond finish?
I read somewhere that Glo was for Gloss but then there was "Autumnglo" which had a matte finish.
I believe the glossy version of "Autumnglo" was called "Walnut" at the time.

That was just to give future historians a riddle to solve.krick wrote:I read somewhere that Glo was for Gloss but then there was "Autumnglo" which had a matte finish.

Crushed Jet Stone inlays would be pretty cool.
