I'm also waiting for a 4004LK through Mike Parks and there's been no price change since the time it was ordered. Any dealer that would increase the price of a Lemmy (or any other instrument) from the original agreed-upon price, has some ethical problems.

Because of the workmanship done on this bass, in addition to it's rarity, I think it's hard to compare it's value with any other instrument.

I would pay $3500-$4000 without blinking if I could find one. Actually, to me 5K isn't THAT outragous. Let's see what happens with this auction. He's got three.

BTW, if these are 4004LK's that Ed Roman ordered and did not pre-sell, forseeing the value, good for him.

After seeing the production difficulties in manufacturing such a strange beast, I doubt we'll see Rickenbacker enter into this kind of venture again. Whether you're a fan of Lemmy's or not, the woodwork is outstanding.

So it is used? Roman advertised having more than one. I just assumed they were new.

Mitch and I were at Ed's in Vegas recently, and it is truly SICK what he has RIC wise... or anything else for that matter. I don't know how he does it. Plus, it's not like a music store per se. He has "DO NOT TOUCH" on EVERYTHING, but they'll let you touch some of it. He has one of everything cool there it seems. It's quite amazing. He makes his money builing expensive custom guitars for people all over the world. He also builds "copys" and has access to a lot of cool discontinued bodies and necks. But it's more like a massive WAREHOUSE really.. w/ guitars everywhere. I'd send a link to his my pix sometime.

Unfortunately, I hasn't caught the RIC fever at that time, and paid very little attn. Mitch was drooling... and I did see that Lemmy bass there. Also w/ a couple Chris Squires I think. He had so much stuff!

Ed was there too. That guy knows everyone. He sits there in his nice office and actually does work. He kind of has a "sleazy porn producer" vibe to him though. HA!

My theory on why Ed Roman has a few of these is this....I had mine ordered and became impatient after a year or so and began to troll the internet looking around for one. I stumbled across Ed's site and called. I was told that they didn't have any and I was too late. I made mention that I already had one ordered but was looking for another and at that point they offered me $3K (if memory serves me correctly) for mine (once I get it). Of course, I told them "no"....but maybe some other people in the same situation didn't? Just a guess.
He certainly could have preordered them also but this would explain the "previously owned" status that John Hall mentioned.

I am ceratinly not upset by the fact that I put in a 20% deposit....I feel quite lucky and happy that I made a "rash" decision at the time. The only reason I am sad is that I don't have it in my grubby hands yet Image
It does bother me a little though knowing that someone who hasn't waited at all will just plunk down a premium and get one before me....but that's the way things go unfortunately.

Hey Brian, if summer 2005 is the date that they'll all be released by, we can hold out until then! I'd rather wait a few more months and pay $1800 rather than get one now for $3000 to "?".

I know I "can" do it....but I don't "want" to...I want mine NOW Image
I kinda regret not ordering two. I like to play what I own but I must admit that I am a little concerned about gigging such a unique/rare Ric. I would feel a little more comfortable about it if I had a mint/unused one at home. I'm sure that I'll get over it pretty quick though.

The LK is gone from Ebay. I wonder if it was a local sale or some "behind the scenes" Ebay deal. DRATS.....I wanted to see what this would go for!

We're not playing at Peabody's (that I know of)....we do have an upcoming gig at the new House of Blues in January that it would be nice to introduce the Lemmy at. I'm not holding my breath but I am always hoping Image.
