Is this a cause for concern?

So I've said before that I have a 4004 cii on the way. I had a picture sent, and looking at the bridge, something strikes me as a litte odd. . . . I'll hold comments to see if anyone else notices the same thing.

It's due to arrive tuesday.

bridge off centered? could be angle of the photo making it appear falsely so.

Yup re: the offset bridge. At least, that's what it looks like to me.

Here's a bigger shot for a sense of context:

The giveaway is the locations of the adjustable saddles on the bridge - they are all shifted to the right in the image. There's a lot of other indicators too.

I would like to know if this is a very common "no big deal" type of thing or a serious, warranty-triggering example of QC gone wrong. Assuming the picture accurately reflects the reality.

-The best case scenario would be a deceptive image.
- A middle of the road would be an offset bridge that only affects cosmetics.
- The worst case scenario would be an offset bridge that affects playability or structural integrity.

The bridge could be off center, but it looks as though it's not a problem with the strings over the neck and pickups the way they belong. If it sounds as plays well, then it's just esthetics. See how it is when you get it. If it's fine, enjoy it. If the look the bridge being off center bugs you, a guitar repairman can center it for you. I don't know your location, but maybe Dane Wilder could help you out with that.

The bridge on mine is off center too, but it plays just fine. Yeah, it bugs me a bit, 'cause I'm such a perfectionist, but it's not worth fixing. If I ever modify it to be a 5-string, I'll fix it then...

There could be a lot of reasons the photo may not be an accurate representation of how it really is. Chill until it arrives. Then as other have suggested - there are a bunch of folks here who could guide you as to 'needs to be done's' and 'who to do it to it'. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes.... pictures please!!!

Joey, very magnanimous of you!

Like Paulie says, "It makes a nice base for a cool color or trans finish!" Beside, I don't mind Mapleglo on a 4004, like the one I have here.

The bridge is definitely off center, but since the string locations can still be adjusted properly, this won't affect the way it sounds or plays. However, in the past this has bugged me enough to remove the bridge, dowel and re-drill the holes. Since these have a two piece neck with a seam right down the center, it should be easy to find it and locate the center hole, then measure from the edge of the fingerboard to the front of the bridge to make sure it's straight. Let me know how it sounds when you get it
