Favorites Strings on a Rickenbacker 330

Post by whoatherechunk »

I recently acquired a 96' Rickenbacker 330 and I wanted to see what your favorite pack of strings are to put on this guitar. I mainly use GHS Medium Boomers (11's), but I'm open to see what people enjoy using on this particular guitar and am open to different brands, gauges, etc. As a small tidbit, I play guitar in the style/vein of Drive Like Jehu, Fugazi, Queens of the Stone Age, Raiohead, John Frusciante and other rock music. Thanks!

Ernie Ball 11-48 Power Slinkies, occasionally with a 10 for the high E (depends on my mood that day :)).

Occasionally, I'll use flatwound strings, just depends on what type of sound I'm going for at the time of the string change. I want to try a Curt Mangan 6-string set sometime, as well.

I got a new Ric 330 about a year ago. Sounded absolutely fantastic right out of the box so I use what was on there.
I assume it was these 10-46 Rickenbacker strings:

+1, except I prefer the set EXL115W with the wound 21 G-third string.
