Thinkin'bout a trade...
Re: Thinkin'bout a trade...
Hi Woody, I have a 2006 MIM Jazz Fretless (electron blue). I'm really quite impressed with both the way it plays and the sound. Mine has the fret markers(lines) where the frets would be and I find it helps with finger position. I have Fender Flats on it (55,70,90,105),which seem to be fairly high tension, but they sound good. I think it's a nice bass for the money and has a wide tonal range. I had a Dan Armstrong fretless about 40 years ago and I wanted to get back into one without spending a lot. Highly recommended! Just thought I'd give my opinion. Roger. P.S. It doesn't seem to cramp your fretting hand on the low fret positions like a fretted Jazz does.
Re: Thinkin'bout a trade...
Thanks,Roger,this bass has 2 nice upgrades too,(badass 2 bridge,Fender custom shop 60's pickups).
It seems to sound pretty good through my mate's 100 watt swr amp, tonite i will get to run it through my Markbass and assess the sound even more.

Oh, so this is the more desirable Musician EQ model, eh?woodyng wrote:ajish4 wrote:The model i had on loan did not have the earlier varitone and brown matching pickups,it had a passive Disguised P-J set up,and a switchable active 3 band eq...
Re: Thinkin'bout a trade...
It would appear so? Altho i have read the earlier type pickups were also more coveted than the ones on this bass. I returned the bass to its owner, and don't know what his plans for it are.
Re: Thinkin'bout a trade...
And then.....
I made the trade,(bye, bye,Rimini!) and have found the Fender to be a great sounding bass, even getting used to the feel of the deadarios, when whilst talking with a guy about a phone plan, found out he has a few basses that belonged to his father in law that he's selling. Yes,queue up for yet another fretless delivered from the cosmos. (Remember i live in a tiny little town, this is blowing my mind). LSS,he has a beautiful Carvin Ac40,semi acoustic neck through (!!?) 4 string fl. It's in very good condition, has labella black tapewounds on it,weighs about 6 1/2 pounds, and is pretty delightful to play. I am tweaking the tone controls a bit,it has active bass and treble controls, and a piezo pickup, which seems to be a little prone to a kind of clicky distortion. I think he may have high expectations on pricing, but i really like the bass,so will probably make an offer if it goes well at tonite's practice. Anyone have any experience, pos or neg with thes basses?
