Out of the four I have owned (330, 660/12, 360, 4004cii) my fave is now the 4004. But I've had it for a week - we'll see if the honeymoon lasts! The 360 is a close second though.

On another point........... does anyone believe that there are differences in different guitars even though they may be the same model, same year.For example, I have tried two 360's from different shops and the guitars 'felt' different from one another. One felt as if the strings were light and easy to bend while the other felt as if the strings had more resistance- felt a bit stiffer, less easier to bend, if you know what i mean. ( not saying one was better- both had advantages and disadvantages )..btw i play a 330 and have a deposit down on a 360

I think we're talking string gauge and setup. The higher the action and the skinnier the strings, the easier time bending notes, and the looser feel. The lower the action and the heavier the strings, the stiffer the feel and the more resistance. You can ask Rick players here about their preferred strings, and the answers will be all over the map. It's all a matter of personal taste and finding the setup the matches your playing style.

I agree - provided that two guitars of the same make, model and year are set up identically, with same strings & gauges, and played through the same amp with the same settings, I'd expect them to sound pretty much identical. Thing is, though, I don't think I've ever been in the market for a new bass where those criteria have been identical at two different music stores and there are many factors that can affect your impression of an instrument. There's always been some variable or another that I've found, and usually a lot. Sometimes it's down to one instrument being manufactured in a different year or batch, so the components (or even the number of windings used in the pickups) may have changed. Makes it very difficult to choose the right instrument but I guess that's what helps make a player's ideal instrument so personal to them.

There are other factors that can influence guitar buying too - on one occasion many years ago, I recall going back to a store for a second time to check out a bass I was interested in, as I wasn't sure about it and wanted to "audition" it again just to confirm my thoughts. I was pretty surprised to find that my impressions of the bass (a Precision fretless) were vastly improved second time around. Reason? Maybe the fact that I'd had a big row with the missis before the first session so I was in a real bad mood and pretty cranky that day!

Absolutely, and it's only natural. The differences won't be great or even readily noticeable, but even with today's CN machines and such, Ricks are still mostly hand-built, and two different luthiers are never going to turn out the exact same neck, etc. Plus they're made out of wood, which is bound to have at least subtle variations tree-to-tree.

I've had a 380L/PZ for many years and I love the look and the way it plays. The humbuckers provide a nice selection of sounds and then the Piezo makes it sound dreamy. Great guitar.
