Quite a few have been shipping into the U.K. recently. I think they'll be much more visible in stores there in the future.

They are also included in the display at the Frankfurt Musik Messe coming up in April which will probably spread the word a bit farther as well.
Great news, John. It's about time (long past due, really) that this series get more recognition and use.

Maybe it's time for the 20th anniversary model 4004v93?

Hmm. That one looks familiar. 8)

Well, actually, we would be a year late as the 4004 series was introduced in 1992, starting with the ultrarare RCA version. 1993 was the first full year of production, though.

Mine hopefully arrives early next week....same model, same colour.
Spot on! Think they had 3 in stock, AFAIK only one now.

Too hard to resist, eh? :D

Yup, think I got number 2.

I had been wavering because I was looking for a JG 4003 but in the end I convinced myself that this would be an interesting option. My last US made Fender went to fund this one but I'm sure this will be a nice alternative to my Status on gigs. Hopefully I won't smack the headstock too often.......

Took it to the gig last night as planned.

Didn't realise the place was such a dive - not a great place to play!

Good news was that the 4004 performed brilliantly. Even though the sound in the venue was poor overall, it still worked it's way through the mix. GIg was with our R'n'B trio - loads of Dr. Feelgood, etc.

Now it's nicely bedded in and gigged, it's off to my local luthier on Tuesday AM for a bit of a tweak to get it to playing perfection!

Sadly couldn't get a pic in action, but did get a cheeky snap in the break.

Thanks Woody! :D

I'd recommend the Markbass stuff to anybody - very powerful, and exceptionally lightweight. I wouldn't use anything else now....or I couldn't lift anything else now....

Nice one SB. Glad to hear it cut through the mix well, some reports of the 'darkness' of the sound of this bass was starting to get me worried.

Mine will also be going through MB - a nice lightweight combination of LM3 with a Barefaced compact cab. Hoping that this will give me some nice cut.......I don't have the cash to go back for a 4003!

I thought the HB-1s were too dark. I wired the coils in parallel. I run more highs & less mids with the 4004 than my 4003. Still, on recordings it's reached a point where its hard to tell which bass I used.

I think the EQ of the amp/head is what makes the difference. Anything is possible with the right EQ!

Let us know how you go with yours, Martyn! :D

This just popped up at Willie's in St Paul along with 2 other 4004.

I have not seen another like it anywhere and it's pretty cool with the factory black hardware.
