Where Is/Was The Pye Recording Studio?
I will be visiting London this August to perform in a production of "The Gondoliers" (a Searchers fan doing G&S? Why not!?) While, of course I will make a pilgrimage to the well-traveled Abbey Road studio, I would like to see the Pye Recording studio building as well. Anyone knows where it is/was, and what tube station to take? By the way, for those of you in London or planning to visit, and unable to see The Searchers in Great Yarmouth, come see me in The Gondoliers, at the Polish Theatre in Hammersmith (plug, plug)!

The address was: ATV House, Great Cumberland Place, London W.1. The studios were still there in 1982, The Searchers recorded their PRT single "I Don't Want To Be The One" in the very same studio as their 60s PYE hits. I don't believe the studios exist any more. Please let us know the result of your expedition!
This may explain, in part, why Tony Jackson and the Vibrations had a sound on a couple of their recordings that resembled the Kinks.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
