Off topic - speaker advice welcome

Post by vulcan_creedler »

I have a 1x15 Ashdown cab, with a knackered 15" driver. I don't know much about speaker spec, but what's the best top tips, when buying replacement cones, just so I can get the most out my 4003 basses! (phew - I managed to mention Ric in the post!)

I've heard that Eminence cones are good. what is it in particular that makes them so good?

I do have a couple of old PA cabs in my shed with Eminence Beta 15" 8Ohm drivers, which are rather obsolete. I believe these are rated at 300W, but unsure if the Beta is good enough for solid bass?

The speaker gurus in the amp section on TalkBass are probably a better resource for good driver information.
