And yes, I do not believe the 4000 (one pickup) basses ever had the capacitor inline. That is a 4001/3 item.

As far as I know, that is correct. No bass-cut cap in the 4000's.

Yes, '72 was a very good year for Ric basses! I love mine! Wonderful neck!
