4004 with binding/slab edges
Other than the LK, I don't think it's been done has it? I would really dig the look of (for instance) a Jetglo 4004L with white binding instead of contours. Anyone else?
Re: 4004 with binding/slab edges
Yeah, I've always liked the binding, and the rest of the 4004 features such as the lack of a pickguard to show off more wood, would be great with binding...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: 4004 with binding/slab edges
But, binding blocks some of the wood.

Would that be a 4003.5?

A Jetglo 4004 with white binding would look absolutely killer.

It would look stunning with a JG. Personally, the lack of binding is what drew me to my Laredo. Odd, just got the 4001 running again and used it for a full rehersal couple weeks ago, and I guess my technique has gotten better. I didn't get "binding bruise" on my wrist...
Kinda like all that wood on the body of a 4004!
When I was a kid and had a 6" reflecting telescope, I read an article that advised painting the outer 1/8" of the main mirror flat black, in order to eliminate much of the distortions that result from the edge of moderate level telecope galsses. The article said something like "don't worry about that lost 1/4 of aperture, it wasn't doing you any good anyway!"jps wrote:But, binding blocks some of the wood.![]()

Re: 4004 with binding/slab edges

Re: 4004 with binding/slab edges
I'd prefer a 4003 sans pickguard but with a rear-access control cavity, buckers, and a schaller bridge
(For the inlays, honestly.)

Triangle inlays on a 4004. That would be the only thing I would change about my Laredo...Kingbreaker wrote:I'd prefer a 4003 sans pickguard but with a rear-access control cavity, buckers, and a schaller bridge

Well, and the concentric pots I already put in. No instrument is perfect. But damn, that Laredo comes close for me.

Yeah, I guess that's sort've what I'm driving at. But I could do without the inlays.Kingbreaker wrote:I'd prefer a 4003 sans pickguard but with a rear-access control cavity, buckers, and a schaller bridge

Re: 4004 with binding/slab edges
I recently bought a new 4004 which is incredible. The only problem is I'm really struggling with the contouring (I have various medical issues which contribute), so much so I'm not sure I'll be able to keep it. If it had a slab body with binding it'd be perfect; strangely I find the slab body with binding much more comfortable than the contoured body.
