Period correct tuners and nameplate for a '57 model 1000?

What kind of nameplate would be correct for a 1957 model 1000? It's the double tulip, short scale, single pickup model. The one I'm getting has a triangular plexi, back painted black one but I'm afraid it's a replacement. My guess is that it needs a white or gold plexi one but I'm not certain. Can anyone set me straight?

Also, what kind of tuners should be on there? The way old open back kind?

Maybe old Grover Statites? The RIC c58 tuners are pretty close to them. I think the TRC would be a rectangular metal one, but I'm not sure on that either. Could be an anodized "curved triangle" shape too. I've had a 58 400 with Statites and anodized, and a '59 950 with rectangle and Klusons.

Yeah, I would think metal TRC. But I've seen black on some of the early Combo stuff too.

There's a picture of a 1957 Model 1000 at the top of pages 14/15 of the Bacon & Day Rickenbacker Book (published 1994) - it has a black TRC.

The credits at the back of the book (page 96) say the guitar was then owned by Scott Jennings/Route 66. If you could track down the present owner, it might be a useful source of info to help with the restoration project.

I had a '57 Combo 1000. It had the triangular metal TRC and Kluson single line tuners with plastic buttons. Also...the tuners didn't use ferrules.

The closest you're going to get to that is the current Gotoh reproduction. That's all I could find a couple of years ago when refitting a @1935 Gibson L-00 that had the same tuners. Finding originals will be difficult, and will be compounded by the fact the plastic buttons degrade seriously over time, and would have to be re-moulded if the actual original Klusons are desired.
