New 360/12C63

Post by Folkie »

I just got my new 360/12C63 back from the best guitar tech in town. He removed the cap, adjusted the truss rods, regrooved the nut a little, and put a set of TI Flats on it. I have no reservations in saying that it plays and sounds better than any 12-string I've ever picked up. Very low action without buzz, totally comfortable neck, and it chimes and shimmers without end (even run directly into my Vox AC15 without my JangleBox). It's also very pretty to look at (my first guitar with double-binding).

I really owe it to paologregorio for his post a few weeks ago about ditching the cap. At the time, I asked him a few questions about his amp and compressor settings, not knowing that his remarks about the cap sucking the tone out of the guitar were right on the mark (at least to my ears). Thank you, Paul!

I absolutely love every aspect of the C63. I can't imagine that I'll ever find a 12-string that better suits my playing style or the sound that I'm after. 8)

Congratulations on your guitar, and glad to be of service. :)
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

"Uh, I like the double bounds. . . ."

Rich,

Is it okay if I post photos from the guitar's eBay listing?

Here's a link to all the eBay pics:

About 30 of them, from every conceivable angle. As you can tell, the seller was very meticulous. And it's as beautiful in person as in the photos! :D

Well, I think I've got the best of both worlds as far as Rickenbacker 12-strings go. For vintage Byrds tones, I use my 330/12 (strung with compressed roundwounds) through my JangleBox JB2 and into my Fender Princeton Chorus amp. For George Harrison sounds, I plug my 360/12C63 (strung with TI Flats) into the Top Boost channel of my Vox AC15 and jangle away. I like the fact that each 12-string (and every other guitar in my collection) fills its own niche. My guitars are my children, and I love them all. 8)
