New To The Forum

Post by Stardust »

Hi All,

I've been a Ric owner since 1985 and had no idea there were all you enthusiasts on here.

I am left handed and I had the wonderful encounter to meet a guy selling his 1980 4003 Fireglow LH in just perfect condition. I traded a nice Alvarez Rosewood topped acoustic Limited Edition flattop and $250 for this beauty. The sharkfins and feel of the neck still make me drool each time I plug it in.

Last week I came upon a Black Shadow that's a little stageworn, right handed with a Flytecase that obviously was a workhorse and I grabbed it knowing that this bass is a rare bird and I'm looking for the bridge pickup cover(rest). I'm wondering if anyone knows of one for sale.

Thanks to everyone in advance for the consideration and I think I'm gonna enjoy watching the posts on the forum.

Welcome!! My Shadow is one of my favorite Rickenbacker basses. It's my "go to" bass as well because of it's great tone and slim neck. Best of luck in your search for a black treble pup cover. I don't think I've ever seen one for sale. That's going to be a tough one. I got lucky, my Shadow came to me with the correct cover in the case!

Welcome to the forum. I'm also a Shadow owner (you can see mine by clicking the link in my signature). What's the serial number on yours? There's a member here (Chris Pappas) who builds a database for all 50 (or so) Shadows that were made. Also please enter it to the Register. Can you post a pic?

Black handrests are hard to come by. I'd contact Rickenbacker Customer Service, maybe they can help you. I'm sure they still have a few.

Thanks all for the warm welcome, the S/N is 3200 and I'm one of those weirdos that can play a righty upside down, not well mind you but passable.

I'll get some photos and load them hopefully tomorrow, she's not the Beauty Queen but dang does that thing feel good. For fear of braggin', I've got 2 of the coolest basses, one left one right, can you imagine taking both of them to the gig and watchin' them drool? Guess I'd also take a mop, that'd only be right

Sorry for not posting and putting up pics but I can't seem to load due to pics being too large. Any tips to resize would be appreciated.

I'm a worse nerd on the computer than a bass player  I am having my website updated and will try to post pics on it soon.

A belated  welcome, Dick! :)

I use a freeware program, available at download.com, called FastStone Photo Resizer. It is very easy to use and can do batch resizing. I set mine to resize with a maximum side dimension of 1200 pixels, and that usually works, even on 5MB pictures.
