Strange that 4001's that vintage don't bring more. I recently sold my 75 Jazz Bass for $3900AU - around US$2950. It could be that J-Basses are currently flavour of the month, but I remember playing a friends midnight blue 4001 way back then and being very impressed - that Ric Bass sound is/was totally cool. He offered to let me use it for a gig (we were covering some song with a Ric bass in it) and I couldn't get used to the wider neck in the time available (about 30 mins!).

Beats me why the serial number (not the letters) on the 77 4001 has been obliterated.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

You're right Sergio. Is somebody looking for that bass? LOL
Now the end of that headstock, did he use it to open doors with?
Is everybody ready?

Funny thing is.. he started the price at $2,000! I emailed him about it, and he said he started it high to PREVENT bidders... while he "worked on his description". Then said he'd be lowering the price, which he then did to $1,100. Won't you just die if someone actually buy it? HA!

die? no. I'd be very encouraged about how much my current collection has gone up in value!
