Comments on Montezuma Brown Finish

I scored one, and man I was lucky.
Pick of the Rics: Where back ordered for 3 to 4 months.
North Coast Music: Sold Out
PM Blues had a bunch but only with the vintage pickups and vintage case. To expensive.
Mike Parks has one, but I didn't find out until after I scored mine.
I ended up finding mine from some obscure web site after obsessing for many hours searching the web. The site had local classified adds in it from the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky area. The Monty was listed on Nov. 20th and I thought for sure it was sold. I called the guy, and he still had it. Found out he bought it from Pick of the Ricks new in 2003 when it first came out. Heck of a nice guy, I ended up talking to him for 15 minutes. It's in mint condition. I will gladly post pics when I get it.
Thanks to all, for providing me this information. It is greatly appreciated.
Now all I have to do is sell my FG or my wife is going to be PO'd.

Not to change from the Montezuma Brown topic to Fireglo, but what is it that makes these finishes, particularly Fireglo, so popular. Is it the unique shading or perhaps moreso the "vintage factor", the Classic Rickenbacker if you will?
What I enjoy about the "glos" is that each time you gaze at them they tend to look a little different.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I like the burst finishes because they are more interesting than a painted color or plain wood. That depends on the wood used of course, I have several naturals that look stunning as is.
I'm also pretty picky about bursts, and won't like all of them in the same color. I hope that my 360/12MB turns out decently. Too bad they aren't using checker on those anymore.

My friend Russ at Classic Axe Guitar Shop (www.classicaxe.com) just got a new 4004Cii in Monty Brown. It's on the website (under "What's New"), but the picture doesn't show up! Damn! I know the guy who does Russ's website, so I'll try to talk to him soon. Anyhoo, I have seen it, and I know that this isn't fair, but words just can't describe how this bass looks. It is simply gorgeous. I'll see if I can round up the image so every one can take a look.

My 4003 is a Montezuma Brown, and like everyone said before, photos just really don't do it justice. A lot of them make it look like some sort of Fender "Vintage Sunburst" finish, but it's really more of a walnut color that slowly fades to maple in the center; no orange or yellow in sight. You definitely have to see it in person to notice how beautiful it really is.

I've got a 4003VP, and it's beautiful (see group shot at the first page of "Holiday Family Portrait." The best description of the color that I can give you is "strong ice tea." It's also similar to the typical brownburst used on the classic Hofners.

I have a 4003MB which I almost sold to fund the purchase of another bass, but luckily I came to my senses!
It is hard to capture the real colour in photos, but these pictures of mine are a fairly good representation:

It came yesterday, in the frigid cold and I was freaking about the finish being damaged. Everything appears to be Ok and I couldn't be more pleased with this finish. Pictures, like everyone said do not do it any justice. Mine actually seems to be more lighter in color, more like the original AG. There is a cool looking knot in the wood right above the bridge pickup, although it's totally distorted in the pictures.
Now to show it off.
