Anyone have access to the Rickenbacker Ledger?

Up for sale today is an extremely rare 1971 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass in Mapleglo with checkerboard binding. This is one of 2 checkerboard bound lefty 4001's ever made in mapleglo, according to the Rickenbacker ledger.

I'd like to know how many lefties made in 1975.....

No such thing. Somebody said something sometime and someone takes it as gospel. RIC doesn't divulge production numbers.

The first Rick bass I ever saw was Sir Paul's and to this day I still consider a lefty Rick the coolest looking bass ever! I almost wish I was a lefty!


BTW, Hey John, while you're checking your ledger, please let me know how many 4001S / RM1999's were made in '67.

I sent a question to the seller via Ebay asking about the "Rickenbacker ledger". If I receive a response I'll post it here. If I don't I'll also let you know.

Looks like someone thought it was a "Beatle Bass" at some point in time. Looking at the pics of the back, it had a strap button placed where a lot of people put them on Hofner 500/1 basses. Hanging from a strap, it feels like the bass is falling away from the player!

How could I forget!?! The LEDGER!! Yes, the Official Rickenbacker Ledger currently resides in a hermetically sealed case with acid neutralizing agents included to prevent the ancient paper from disintegrating. Paul B. really does know the location where it resides, but has sworn an oath to secrecy. Once a year, John Hall and Paul B. get together and John personally flies them both in his Bell 412 helicopter to the Ledgers' resting place and pay homage to the sacred text. I heard from a certain RR member who also has insider information enough to be banned from this forum, (though he was discreet in telling me) that at the same location as THE LEDGER, lies the remains of Ricky Nelsons' first Ric archtop acoustic guitar which was crushed by James Burtons' pedal steel when the stand collapsed.

I mean, seriously, how COULD Paul have written his book with all that detailed information...unless, the Ledger really did exist?
