I dont think unwinding is very hard for anyone with even a little experience if the pickup isn't potted. Lindy Fralin has given me good deals in the past--$20 or so for a similar amount of work. But you may also want to try trading it for a 7.4k pre-wound Toaster since those are more common than anything else. Is yours a 12k or just a little hotter than average?

True - someone out there will want that hot toaster! I would swap for a scatterwound.

If you're lucky, you can get some $$ plus a current 7.4kohm toaster for your hot toaster.

Don't Do it! Sell the Hot Toaster for $200, plus shipping, then buy a 7.4 K for $150.
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

"Uh, I like the double bounds. . . ."

BE KIND, DON'T UNWIND! Save that 12K and get an actual 7.4k.
Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed (and I mean that in an optimistic way).

It took me even longer, but now that I see it -- well played.
