Not sure about the mag size, here's a closeup of the treble PU on LL, slot-head screw tops:

Yes, same thing.

You can search through Register Gallery for photos of 4001 basses by year, chose body front to get treble PU.

Here's a search for all 1973 4001 body front photos, shows 169 basses: http://www.rickresource.com/register/ga ... 3&images=2

zo...according to the register, and assuming that the pickups are original, the mag changeover was between jan. and feb. '73. moocho greasy arse for the homework.

Bass Northwest has a JG 4000 on their website,that looks like the first Ric bass i bought in the 70's, because the yellowing clearcoat makes it look like a deep lagoon green. I really love the color.
