The official release date is July 9, but I think that is a "no later than" date for the book to be on the shelves. Amazon has had it on pre-published sale since last autumn. I would imagine it will be shipping to buyers by mid June or so.

I apologize if this has been asked already. Is the book hardcover or paperback?

It's "softcover" which is a sturdy paperback. The cover actually flaps over (inward) front and back which adds extra stiffness to the edge. There's a bonus foldout "tip in" at the back end of the book with a double-page graphic showing the timeline/family tree of the development of Rickenbacker basses. :D

Just informed today (6/13) that the book is now in the "warehouse" and that it should be distributed to stores/Amazon/etc. in the next two weeks.

Folks, if you would be so kind to let me know when you see it or when you get your copy (if you've pre-ordered it on Amazon). I'd like to know what you think of the book, too! Thanks!

I know, I know, I'm a bit late to jump on the bandwagon but I just ordered my copy!! Can't wait to receive it. While I did not contribute to the project, I own a few of the instruments that are in the book!! :D

Well, then you did contribute to the book. It wouldn't be the same without those basses in it. 8)

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
