I have ordered one of these for my Precision bass. Curiosity got the best of me!

I guess you'd need two of them on a Rickenbacker 4001/4003/4004?

The demo was really cool,(and the ampeg mini-me SVT sounded great, too). I'd like to hear one on a 4004! (With the standard wiring circuit)

Seems like it could be useful on the treble pickup. There is another, more traditional version of the vari-tone circuit available online too, but I can't remember the name of the site. Anyway, it'll be good to hear your feedback on the Stellartone in a future posting!

By the way, if anyone has experience with the Stars Guitars Ric bass bridge, I'm really curious about them. It seems like they made a heavy duty version which may have required altering the bass, and another light weight model that didn't. I have seen some pictures and a few comments here, but not much in depth discussion.

I thought about getting a few of these. I still might in the future, considering my chronic malcontentment with my sound.

Sounds interesting. I think I've got a couple of those types of switches in a box somewhere, I just might have to try making one to try out...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I think the lightweight "bent plate" version was what was on my used 4002 when i got it. I have to say it didn't look very classy,(basically looked like an oversized Fender bridge) but it did the job beautifully, and didn't require any routing or extra drilling. AFAIK,they're no longer made.

The concept of these is simple, but really cool. Have you ever noticed how the whole resonance of your tone changes dramatically when you totally bypass the resistive strip in the pot so your signal is going straight to the tone cap? It usually has a far more lush sound to my ears than with the pot engaged even just a few small turns clockwise. With a varitone (and assuming no pot to attenuate it) this would always be the case. I would like to give it a try some time.

Hey Woodyng - Re-the bridge; got any pics? Did you replace it with a factory bridge? Did you hang on to it? How would you compare it to the hipshot?
