Thank you, Mr. Hall, for your reply. I would ALWAYS assume that any new model or product would continue RIC's high standard of quality and and goal of producing exceptional guitars. It would be interesting ( I say this respectfully) to know how you decide on changing or producing different models and how much input you do gather from customers.

Actually, I think most people will be pleasantly surprised when they see what the future holds.

Oh MAN!! He's doing it AGAIN. Now comes:

1) Speculation on what model will debut
2) Speculation on what color the new model will be
3) Speculation on when it will actually debut
4) Bass guys wanting it to be a special bass (6 string??)
5) 12-string guys wanting a new 12er with a violin f-hole
6) 6-string guys wanting some kind of 3/4 model (Tom Campbell LE??)
7) John Hall waiting another month and then dropping another vague and tantalizing hint that no one guesses

Bob thanks for your post. It is one of many things that you can do on the RRF to keep things new. Excitement, at least mine, is a state of mind over which we have some control. It can easily be generated from within and to my way of thinking we don't have to wait for others to create the moment for us. It is yours for the taking, seconds from now.

10 Exciting things that you can do on the RRF.

1. Look for questions asked by members on the board and answer them.
2. If you like something you see here make a comment about it and the good you see in it.
3. Take the time to enter your instruments in the Register.
4. Update the photos of your instrument.
5. Remind others of those artists you may enjoy and add a youtube video of their performance.
6. Share your own audio or video track of your performance.
7. Share where you're from and ask others to tell you where they live.
8. Write a short article about your Rickenbacker experiences and share it.
9. Provide support for others who may write in here discouraged.
10. Support the forum by taking the time to purchase our CD4.

John, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about roughly 80 years of Rickenbacker history. I have my fingers crossed that I may be around for the 100th anniversary.

It's human nature to want something new and there's nothing wrong in that but I suppose i'm boring in that respect. I just love the 'standard' 330's and 360's (JG & MG) The only people I have ever seen in 'real life' using a Ric is Peter Buck and Roger McGuinn and even now when I see someone on TV using a Ric i get all excited and say to the wife...'that guy is using a Ric..that guy is using a Ric !!

The issue is doing something s well as it can be done. I'm only willing to add capacity as long as the product quality remains as good as it was or gets better.

I don't feel like any or at least most of us are in a position to question this logic. A lot of people like to play devil's advocate but we aren't all RIC accountants (in fact none of us are to the best of my knowledge) so how the heck would we know any better than RIC is doing exactly as JH says. If that is indeed the case then I'm all for it... The failure of many a brand has been to produce a variety of failures instead of doing a few things really well.

That's so true in the chemical sciences, too. I have run across many in my industry that that do not understand that (1) we gain knowledge from our failures, and (2) predictability, even in science, has its limitations.

One of the 'cryptoquote' puzzles I did over the years was a quote from Thomas Edison which went something like this: "You want results? I'll show you results! I'll show you a hundred experiments that did not work."
