Next time I get chance to go down I'll see what they have to say. It sure isn't a '69 and it's certainly a bolt-on but it doesn't mean it wasn't Lem's at some stage. I'll add that Rics historically aren't their strong point, which to be honest goes for pretty much any shop in the UK.
That's good! I am very curious to know their side of the story.

The link seems to be gone now. You know, it very well could have been Lemmy's first bass, or an early. A lot of folks started out with an inexpensive copy instrument, whatever they could afford, before moving on to the real deal. Even my first electric guitar was/is (I still have it) a Sears & Roebuck with the general shape of a Tele but with a much thinner body and the hardware of a Jaguar. I wouldn't make too much of it.

I believe Lemmy's first bass was a Hopf.
It is to be seen in Hawkwind videos.
His first Rick was the one John Hall presented in the factory video, a 4001s.
The one said to have been through several rock'n roll wars.
I have never seen any picture of him with this bass, but that doesn't mean he could have owned it at some point.
It's not likely though.

You could go to the Rainbow and show him a picture of it and see if he recognizes it. Might be a nice change of pace from "Holy [censored] you're [censored]Lemmy [censored] Kilmister from Motor[censored]head!!!!!!!! will you sign my girlfriends boobs?!?!?!? "
