Old as I am , I never saw this before. Pretty good sound from Passiac NJ

Read where he quickly retired it as the mods totally ruined the sound.

Did he retire the P bass when he found the Jazz in a Kalamazoo pawn shop?

He probably retired the TP Bass after his friends ridiculed him for such a travesty. :wink:

That "was" a 60's P-bass, Geddy started out his Rush career using that bass. Once they got their record deal advance, Geddy went out and bought a Rickenbacker and retired the Precision. Eventually he had it customized into the teardrop shape you see in the video, he did say it destroyed the tone of the bass. Small wonder.... :(

I found this online, its the best photo I've seen of the chopped P-Bass. (The rick isn't too shabby either).

So is Geddy's 4001 a mid 73? Those inlays look like the milky ones.

That's his first one, he later used a post 74 model...
