Lakland Skyline 44-64 VS P Bass
Lakland Skyline 44-64 VS P Bass
I'm considering buying a Lakland 44-64 Skyline after trying my friend's J Bass skyline the other night. They seem to be well made basses.
Any experiences with the Skylines here?
So hard to buy stuff without being able to try it first

Re: Lakland Skyline 44-64 VS P Bass
Mark,i owned a Skyline hollow body bass, one of the earlier ones with the Bartolini pickups, and thought it was one of the best sounding and feeling Basses i have played/owned. In general the Skyline series seems to be well regarded as being very close to the U.S. made counterparts in feel and function. I am really interested in the new Lakland Skyline short scale hb that just came out,as it seems to have looks borrowed from Hofner,RIC,and Fender....

I'd love to have one of the 'duck dunn' p-basses. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I've had a Glaub P-bass for a bunch of years...fine instrument...love the neck.
A better P-bass than most F* basses.

Cool, you and Chris Squire have something in common.windchimp wrote:I've had a Glaub P-bass for a bunch of years...fine instrument...love the neck.

Yes, and unfortunately that's about all.jps wrote:Cool, you and Chris Squire have something in common.windchimp wrote:I've had a Glaub P-bass for a bunch of years...fine instrument...love the neck.

I was just offered a USA for a real good price. Still think I'm gonna go with the Skyline though.

It could be relative - a good price for a MIUSA Lakland may still exceed a decent price on a Skyline by big bucks!jps wrote:I'd go with the USA for a real good price, IMHO.marc61 wrote:I was just offered a USA for a real good price. Still think I'm gonna go with the Skyline though.

...or not, we don't know what this real good price is, as of yet.
Re: Lakland Skyline 44-64 VS P Bass
I was offered a 2009 (I think) in blue at $1850. There's another on talkbass now at 2K. Seems not bad considering they're like $3200 new.

Sweetwater has a new Lakland 44-64 Skyline at $3040. If the USA one is in great shape I'd go for it, if for no other reason than better resale value down the road. I prefer my basses to be made here, at least ones from US companies.

A "Duck Dunn" P-bass is just a regular P-bass with a '70's block inlay Jazz neck and flatwounds.cheyenne wrote:I'd love to have one of the 'duck dunn' p-basses. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
