Since so many people have for so many years mistaken Geddy's recorded Fender Jazz sound for his Ric, the Geddy sig is an honorary Ric in my book.

Thanks for warm reception. I believe we were playing Space Truckin' during that shot.

I know this is not the right forum, but..... any thoughts on flats or roundwounds? I am currently using the Curt Mangan POTR roundwounds.

These are the exact replacements for the Rickenbacker strings.

I just put some D'addario Chrome flats on my MIJ Fender Jazz Special and love them. Was thinking of doing the same with the 4001 but I am concerned about the overall string tension that the 4001 can take. Any thoughts?

If you can hang with a lighter gauge flatwound set,Chromes should be just fine,tension-wise. (40-100 range or lighter)
There are a lot of fans here for the Chromes,as well as thomastic,Optima,and GHS flats,which all have different sound and tension/ feel characteristics.

I use Chromes in their Super Soft set (40-95), not on any Ricks, at the moment though. TI Jazz Flats are another great flatwound set I use (only one gauge set so it is easy to decide which to use

), I currently have them on my Laredo.
