Cool photo of John I'm guessing 1964 on his way to perform at the Washington Coliseum.

other sources say it was Jacky Spelter's Jazzmaster (famous Rock'n'Roller, living in Berlin, Germany, † 12.05.2004) and the photo was shot during filming Help! in a pub in Obertauern, Austria, during a spontaneous session with John and Paul.

no, neither George, nor Brian.
On the left is (probably) Jacky Spelter's bass player, playing a big Hofner bassguitar.
Jacky Spelter and the Beatles knew each other since Star Club days. It was a coincidence they met again in Obertauern, where Jacky Spelter and his band had an engagement at the hotel.

Jacky Spelter......You are correct, Sir.... Lewisohn’s “Day By Day” has it as March 18th, 1965 in Austria during the filming of HELP!
The Jazzmaster belonged to Jacky Spelter.... But that looks like a 6-string in the background.

Jacky and the Strangers were Berlin´s longest running Rock´n´Roll band. Born in 1928 in Wiesbaden Jacky Spelter formed the Strangers in 1953 with a Fender Jazzmaster guitar that he had brought from Texas were he had been taken as a POW. It was the first Fender model to appear in Germany and he played on that same instrument (that he lovingly called Jenny) for 50 years.

In 1958 he opened for Bill Haley and the Comets at the Waldbühne in Berlin. In Friedberg, where Jacky and the Strangers played the GI-Clubs, he met Elvis, who was sitting in the audience. In Hamburg he played with the Beatles. Jacky continued to play until his death in 2004.

brammy,
you are right.
On the left is Jacky Spelter, playing his "other" (as he says in the video) 6-string guitar.

Must have been singing German oom-pah folk songs Beatle style. Dang... too bad someone didn't have a cell phone to record it all.
